"The idea of evolution is so beautiful and sad. Since the earliest life on earth, there have been somewhere between five and fifty billion species, only five to fifty million of which are alive today. So, ninety-nine percent of all the species that have ever lived on earth are extinct."

:( that is really sad. It makes you think though...
Here's the thing: If the earth is and has been made up of souls who reincarnate (or whatever, because time doesn't exist....but let's talk linear for a sec so as not to confuse ourselves) then in reality, we haven't actually lost anyone, we just changed and narrowed down what we reincarnate as.....
example: in the past, we went crazy trying out different "beings" (five to fifty billion) to inhabit on the earth, but as time went on, we gradually "weeded out" (that sounds worse than i mean it) different species based on (??? i don't actually know, see i talk smart but...) well, based on whatever and now, we are sticking to these five to fifty million "beings". nothing has "died" then, or gone away. the essence of the beings has always remained....not so sad if you look at it that way...but who the hell am i to say anything!!!
